Whistler’s Winter and Holiday Events

Sutton Whistler Real Estate goes skiing with Santa.

Vancouver is seeing its first snow fall of the year today and the Christmas carols are proudly being played on every radio station. Wonderful window displays are popping up and twinkling lights are decorating our community village. One of my favorite things about being a Whistler realtor is that I get to participate in the all local events that put Whistler on the map during the holiday season. Aside from real estate, I’ve always loved Whistler for the skiing, scenery and outdoors lifestyle but the seasonal events make me love it so much more. Here are a few of my favorite Whistler winter events to enjoy over this December.

Your Whistler Realtor’s Favorite Winter Events

Pedestrian-Only Village
Going for a stroll along the walkways that connect the villages is a great winter pass time. It gives you a chance to visit your favorite café and take in all the decorations and Christmas lights. If you’re looking a nice and relaxing evening with the family this is it. Also, if you have never visited Whistler before I highly recommend you take the time to enjoy the walkways.

Dress like Santa and Ski for Free
On December 14th the Garibaldi Lift Company will award the first 75 people whom arrive at the base of the Whistler Mountain in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire a free lift ticket. All participants will upload the Fitzsimmons Express at 8am and will stay on until the Garbanzo Express and then ride or ski the Emerald Express at the bottom of the hill for a group photo.

Fire & Ice Show
This event takes place on every Sunday from December 15th to March 30th 2014. Make sure to check out the fire spinners, fireworks and Whistler’s best skiers and riders for a spectacular display. There are big jumps and blazing fire rings for the skiers and rider to enhance the performance.

Skating with Santa
On December 22nd, Make sure to bring the children to the Whistler Olympic Plaza for a chance to skate with Santa. Santa will be giving out free candy canes and will also be available for photos. The hours of the skating rink are from 11am to 9pm daily. Skate rentals are available between 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 9pm at a cost of $5.00.

Whistler Presents: New Year’s Eve Celebration

Millennium Place offers a wonderful family oriented New Year’s Eve party. It begins at 6pm and runs until 11pm with the early countdown at 9pm. There is live music, fire spinners, dancers, circus entertainers, and even a giant bubble wrap stomp. With tons of events and entertainment it is sure to be a fun packed evening for the whole family.

I hope my list of winter events offers some fun and new activities for you and your family to try. If you would like to discuss how you can get closer to the community please contact me for more information on Whistler Real Estate.

From all of us at Sutton Whistler, we wish you a Merry Christmas and we hope you have a safe and happy New Year!
